What 'integrated cold chain' means
The scheme requires a project to cover multiple stages of the cold chain — not just one. A pure standalone cold storage usually does not qualify.
- Pre-cooling, sorting, grading and pack house at producer end
- Cold storage and CA storage as part of the chain
- IQF, individual quick freezing, blast freezing for high-value produce
- Reefer vans and mobile cooling units for distribution
- Connection to processing or retail end
Pattern of assistance
Grant-in-aid is provided as per the current MoFPI scheme guidelines, with eligibility, percentage and caps notified for the relevant cycle. Means of finance, bank appraisal and supply chain linkage are mandatory.
Why standalone cold storage usually does not qualify
- Scheme objective is value chain integration, not bulk storage
- Producer / processor linkage proof is required
- Multiple cold chain stages must be present in the same project
