Ripening Chamber Service
Ripening chambers — banana, mango, papaya & more
- Pressurized or non-pressurized cycles
- Ethylene generator + safety sensor
- CO₂ exhaust and fresh-air make-up
- Batch sizes 1 / 2 / 4 / 6 / 8 tonnes

Typical applications
Operating Temperature
14–22°C (varies with stage)
Relative Humidity
85–95% RH
Engineering note
Ripening uses ethylene 100–150 ppm in measured cycles.
Technical Specifications & Construction
Every ripening chamber we build follows the same engineering discipline — sized to your load, not picked off a brochure. Specifications below reflect typical HyperCold builds.

- Controls
- Carel / Danfoss digital with data-logger
How HyperCold Designs This Cold Room
These are the design factors we lock down before quoting. Skip any of these and the project either runs hot, drinks electricity, or under-delivers on shelf life.
Pressurized vs non-pressurized
Pressurized cycles give faster, more uniform colour break for export-grade banana.
Ethylene safety
Catalytic generator with sensor and exhaust interlock; LEL stays well below safe threshold.
CO₂ exhaust
Fresh-air make-up cycle prevents CO₂ accumulation that slows ripening.
What Drives the Project Cost
We don't quote square-foot rates — every build is BOQ-priced. The factors below decide where your project lands within a realistic range.
- 01Batch size (1T–8T)
- 02Number of chambers
- 03Pressurized vs non-pressurized
- 04Ethylene & CO₂ sensors
- 05Refrigeration brand and capacity (TR)
- 06Floor type (PUF + chequered Al vs heated)
- 07Door type, ante room, electrical and DG backup
- 08Civil work and site readiness (Extra)

Scope split — what we deliver, what your site provides
Clear scope upfront avoids the most common project-cost surprises. Items marked "subject to" are finalised after technical site evaluation.
HyperCold scope
- Heat-load and refrigeration sizing (BOQ-based)
- PUF panel manufacturing at our Firozabad plant
- Refrigeration unit supply, piping, charging and leak test
- On-site panel erection, door fitting and commissioning
- Control panel, sensors and data-logger (where applicable)
- Operator handover, AMC kick-off and warranty documentation
Client / site scope
- Civil work — floor, walls, foundation, plinth (subject to final site inspection)
- 3-phase electrical supply up to the project room (load to be confirmed after technical evaluation)
- Earthing pit, MCB / RCCB at the LT panel side
- Water supply for installation and cleaning
- Site access — crane / hydra movement, internal pathway and unloading zone
- Any local permissions (fire NOC, FSSAI, pollution clearance) — subject to scheme guidelines
Common mistakes we help clients avoid
Most of these surface only after commissioning, when fixes are expensive. Catching them at quotation stage protects both shelf life and capex.
Using a cold room as a ripening chamber
A standard cold room has no ethylene dosing, no CO₂ exhaust and no fresh-air make-up cycle. Ripening cycles fail and fruit colour stays uneven.
Sizing only for the batch, not the cycle
A 4-day ripening cycle with one chamber means one despatch every 4 days. Daily despatch usually needs 3–4 staggered chambers.
Under-sizing electrical supply or skipping DG backup
Cold rooms run year-round. A weak LT supply or no DG plan turns every grid outage into a spoilage event.
Treating subsidy as a guarantee
Subsidy eligibility depends on project type, beneficiary category, scheme notification and department verification. Plan financials independent of subsidy approval.
Reference visuals & build photos
Indicative engineering visuals — actual build configuration depends on commodity, capacity and site.

How HyperCold Ripening Chamber compares
A ripening chamber is not a cold room — gas control, exhaust and pressurization decide colour and shelf life.
| Build factor | Standard cold room | HyperCold ripening chamber |
|---|---|---|
| Ethylene dosing | Not provided | Catalytic generator at 100–150 ppm, with LEL sensor |
| CO₂ exhaust | None | Fresh-air make-up + exhaust cycle |
| Pressurization | Not designed for it | Optional pressurized cycle for export-grade fruit |
| Stage temperature | Single setpoint | Multi-stage cycle (14–22°C) per fruit type |
| Batch design | Volume only | Tonnage-batch (1/2/4/6/8 T) with daily despatch logic |
